Welcome to the Jungle
(I am totally ignoring the fact that I haven't posted an update about the Man Cave. Let's just say we've been a bit, um, lazy, this past week.)
It's another gorgeous day here and M is out doing the yard again. I couldn't resist taking some pictures of our jungle, I mean our back yard. M has been doing a great job clearing more space each time he goes out there. I can't remember if I mentioned this, but prior to us buying this house it had been abandoned for at least 18 months, possibly longer. The bank had kept up the front yard for buyers, but the back yard was pretty much overrun with weeds.
I wish we had taken some "before" pictures when we moved it, but you can see from these pictures how overgrown it is.
Our land goes back quite a ways, but we haven't been able to get back there to see it!
In this last picture, just above where the large branch is laying (kind of looks like it's on top of the kids' climber) there is a patch of day lilies that is no longer blooming. When we first moved in, that whole area was tall grass and weeds.
Here is a picture from just a couple of weeks ago, taken closer to the large branch. You can see how much M took away from those weeds today.
Look at the difference in the picture above, taken a couple of weeks ago, compared to the picture below, taken today. To the right of the branch in both pictures you can again see where M claimed some more space, previously overrun by weeds.
I kind of like having it wild back there - it acts as a natural barrier. Still, it's nice to have some more yard space available. Nice job, M!
