The Office Reveal
I can't even tell you how excited we are to have the office done. This is the first top-to-bottom room renovation that we have completed. It took nearly the entire month of July to complete, working nights and weekends to keep it going. Kind of like our part-time job on top of our full-time jobs and raising two kids. It was so worth it, though. We've learned a lot about the process and are already starting the next room (more on that later). It's a huge boost to our confidence to have the room done and looking amazing.
OK, less talk, more pictures.
This is what the office looked like when we first moved in.
Here it is after we removed the old, stinky carpet.
I found a picture of the totally retro red and black carpet that was hiding underneath the beige carpet. Awesome, right?!
(The rest of the stuff in the picture above is the other old carpet and carpet pads that we tore up from other rooms in the house. Some day I'll show you how much carpet we removed.)
After much work, here is the final product.
I love it, I love it, I love it! How incredible is that floor, right? It's the perfect rich, brown color without being too dark. It really warms up the space and makes it look fresh and clean. Exactly what we needed for the room.
I feel like the blue paint drew attention to the paneling, but the color keeps it modern. The paneling adds a little character to the room somehow. When I'm in the room I feel more like I'm in a beach cottage with wainscoting rather than a 1960's basement.
It was a last-minute decision to paint the wall below the window all white. I was originally picturing it blue, but with the ledge there it felt "right" to keep it white. It's more of a focal point to the room with the window all framed in white.
Here's some information about the products we used for this room:
A huge "thank you" to my brother, M, for helping us with the floor. We couldn't have done it without his experience, guidance, and tools.
Let me know what you think of our first completed project!
